The second great outdoor room of the main campus is the Wynn Commons of the Perelman Quadrangle that links spaces devoted to undergraduate life. The plaza covers underground kitchens for Houston Hall's (
PH147.6) dining rooms. The quadrangle is dominated by Karl Bitter's bronze seated sculpture of Provost William Pepper (1895), who transformed the university into a modern research center, founding the library and the university museum as well as numerous programs and departments, such as the Physical Education and the Women's programs and the departments of Hygiene and Nursing.
