Here is a small building with a big personality: an application of Beaux-Arts design principles to a very modest program. The architect, then practicing in Shamokin, crafted this delightful buff brick hall to house Mount Carmel's oldest fire company. It sits in Town Park, terminating the 4th Street axis with a festive, hipped tile roof above arcaded apparatus bays. Lee ingeniously capitalized on the setting by sculpting the building's backside into a band shell for concerts in the park.
