The immense X-braced exoskeleton of the Space Technology Center is a remnant of the space race of the Cold War era. The ubiquitous Kling here shaped an efficient frame for General Electric's research center for guided missile nose cones, and the various more benign space ships, including the tiles for the space shuttle.
