This diner, built by the Jerry O'Mahony Diner Company, was moved to Hillsville in 1946 from Mount Airy, North Carolina. The restaurant is one of about twenty diners remaining in Virginia. Although a large dining room has been added to the rear and a gabled roof partly obscures its classic exterior form, the diner retains most of its hallmark features, including a mosaic tile floor, sliding entrance doors, an arched metal ceiling, a long service counter with fixed-stool seating, and stainless steel restaurant equipment. Nearby at 516 N. Main, the Hillsville Masonic Lodge (1930s) is notable for its vivid gold-orange brick walls articulated by piers and Art Deco
