This two-story log house served as Greene County's courthouse from 1797 to 1800. The court moved to a brick courthouse on High Street and into the present courthouse (
GR1) on the same site in 1850. The building has been restored after years of being masked behind siding and serving a series of commercial establishments. The interior has a “turkey breast,” or triangular, chimney base that provides an angled fireplace to serve two rooms with one stone stack. Court was held in the upper room, which was originally reached by an exterior stair and balcony. A one-story frame addition on the courthouse's south elevation accommodates the Cornerstone Genealogical Society's library.
