Crossing the corners of the three counties that intersect at this site, the 1,668-foot-long four-lane bridge carries I-80 over the Allegheny River 270 feet below. The cantilevered steel bridge consists of three continuous truss spans and is thirty-two feet higher than the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. When built, it was the fifth highest bridge in the United States. Its designer, Andrzejewski, was chief engineer for Buchart-Horn of York, Pennsylvania.
