This relatively simple, red brick courthouse stands at an intersection in the commercial district, neither towering over the town nor dominating a town square. The gabled two-story building has a square clock tower above the arcaded street entrance on the west facade. Round- and segmental-arched windows and brick corbeling are the only ornamentation. An addition of 1882 to the east expanded access to the county's one courtroom, but today's security measures have returned access to a single entrance. Nothing is known about the architectural firms of either the original courthouse or the addition, other than their names.
