Wellington School is a simple structure with board-and-batten siding terminating in a boxed cornice. Above the entrance on the gable ridge is a bell tower supported on short square posts. The one-room, wood-frame schoolhouse with a front-facing gable roof was once a common sight in small-town Nevada. By the early twentieth century, ambitious towns, no matter how small, wanted prominent school buildings to enhance their communities. Many of the buildings, however, have been demolished or moved to museums for preservation; this one may have been moved from its original site.
