This Streamline Moderne school of reinforced concrete features vertical ribbed buttresses that are a counterpoint to the wraparound horizontal bands cast into the concrete. Shallow vertical fluting ornaments the spandrels, parapet, and pilasters flanking the entrance. The wraparound motif is especially evident where corner windows once existed (now filled in) and at the slender canopies and vertical stair tower that mark the entrance. This sophisticated design has generally been well maintained through its continued educational use. There were once several schools in this architecturally distinctive mode on the North Dakota landscape.
