Built in two phases, the Lyons garage represents the booming local automobile businesses in the early twentieth century. The Lyons Company began in 1894 in Grand Forks as a sales and repair business for bicycles and later diversified into motorcycles and automobiles, specializing in the lesser-known Hudson, Franklin, and Hupmobile brands. Still active as a service garage, this building is a fine example of castellated Tudor Revival expressed in a commercial building and gives the company an identity through distinctive architecture.
