Established in 1971, this congregation first met in school buildings and later bought a house, which was demolished to make way for this striking brick fortress-like synagogue with an austere interior and unusual plan. A ramp leads along the side of the sanctuary so that the worshippers double back to face the entrance wall of the building and are oriented to the east, the traditional direction for Jewish prayer. The interior is of exposed brick, with a distinctive multichambered ark. The slightly elevated women's section runs along the north side of the prayer hall and is separated by a clear partition.
