The house at Beechwood Farm is clad in the fieldstones found in abundance in the vicinity of the glacial moraine north of Clare. Pioneer lumberman and conservationist Josiah L. Littlefield built this house in the center of a lumbering camp. Today Concordia Lutheran College owns the building as part of a conservation camp. The farm buildings stand in a beech woodlot. The two-story, end-gable house has a shed wing to the northwest and a rear single-story wing. The main entrance is placed on the side of the house in response to the barnyard. The exterior walls are veneered with large fieldstone boulders, each of which is surrounded by a band of cobblestones, like a string of pearls.
