Next to the Armory of the First Corps of Cadets on the edge of Park Square stands the building designed to house Carter, Dinsmore, and Company, which became Carter's Ink. All the operations of the company, including office work, research, manufacturing, and bottling, were done on-site until the company moved in 1910. Although the lower story was remodeled in 1979–1980 for retail use, the upper levels still exhibit the three original multilevel arched bays topped with ornamental brownstone and terra-cotta, a material used lavishly in commercial architecture at the turn of the twentieth century.
