This last of the churches on the Common was built in two phases, 1923 and 1929. Erected for the Christian Science Church, its complex plan—a two-level Sunday school in the basement surmounted by an auditorium at the second story—is, unlike all of its neighbors, a rejection of the meeting house/church configuration. Like the main First Church of Christ, Scientist, The Mother Church (BB86) in Boston, a dome surmounts it. A brick building fronted by a monumental limestone portico, the exterior design is Georgian Revival, the style that, by the 1920s, had become ubiquitous for all buildings in the vicinity of Harvard.
