Lincoln High School on the south side of Des Moines (
CE150) was designed at the same time as this school, and the architects (the same firm in both cases) used English architecture of the seventeenth century as their source. The central pavilion of the Roosevelt school is three stories high, compared to the two-story section of the Lincoln school building; other than this, the schools are very much the same. The spacious grounds of the Roosevelt school building suggest, as is true for the Lincoln school, that what we are experiencing (at least from a distance) is an extensive English country house.
