1953, Eero Saarinen and Associates

The east facade of Hubbell Hall is probably Saarinen's most handsome elevation on campus. Here is fifties Modernism at its best. The building is low, fitted partially into a hillside. Its surface is divided into rectangles of brick, plate glass, and plaster; a thin slab roof covers the entrance, penetrates the large glass area, and forms the base for the white plaster rectangle.
