Distinctly Chinese with its pagoda-like, two-tiered steeple and hipped roof with upturned eaves, this church reflects the ethnic heritage of its original congregation. The entrance portico's four columns are octagonal, symbolic of the eight basic elements of life. The parson-age sits on top of the hill behind the church and employs the same detailing as the church. Like this building, a number of Char's other works use Asian-influenced details while utilizing Western materials and construction methods.
