Bennett, in eastern Cedar County, possesses a fine example of a Prairie school brick bank building, now used as the community's town hall and public library. Constructed in 1919 on the corner of Main and Sixth streets, the structure has an entrance somewhat reminiscent of Louis H. Sullivan's bank at Sidney, Ohio. The entrance on the narrow side of the building has a lunette in cast stone above the door. The lintel of the doorway is extended to each side and terminates in squared geometric ornamentation. On the sides of the building, the sills of the large windows rest on projecting bands that conclude in a square. Below the cast-stone cornice is a series of three bands.
