Standing atop Boggs Hill, this one-and-onehalf-story Greek Revival house bridges the gap between a cottage and a mansion. Its seemingly diminutive appearance is due to the distinctive knee windows of the upper story, regularly spaced within the frieze of a broad entablature. The flat deck above the hipped roof was probably once encircled by a balustrade. The one-bay front portico, somewhat reminiscent of the original, replaces a longer, Victorian-era porch. Outbuildings include a brick slave quarterskitchen, which was built in the same period as the house, and an earlier, c. 1819 log “wool house.” Everbreeze stands on property the Carter family acquired in 1796, and descendants still own it.
