“The smallest church in 48 states,” as its somewhat outdated promotional literature advertises it, measures 12 feet by 24 feet. It is built of Crab Orchard stone, a popular facing material of the 1950s, laid, typically, in horizontal layers. Lancet windows and a tiny belfry atop the gable roof establish a Gothic spirit. Beyond a narrow vestibule, the nave seats only a dozen worshippers (three pews on either side of the aisle each accommodate two people). Mr. and Mrs. Peter Milkint built the church, which is often used for weddings, as a memorial to their parents.
