A sandstone block foundation, symmetrical five-bay front, and rear ell relate this brick house to other antebellum houses in the upper valley. Its bracketed Italianate cornice and shallow hipped roof, along with two-over-two window sash, give the impression of a later date than the one traditionally ascribed. As is so often the case, the one-story front porch is a still later modification. John Harriman served as a county justice of the peace.
