This house and the adjacent house at 103 E. Main are the most notable in town. Both are situated at the junction of the town's busiest streets. This house built for Wise businessman N. B. Dotson is situated on a slight rise overlooking W. Main Street and is surrounded by mature shade trees. The house has a three-story corner tower with a conical roof, a polygonal corner bay, gables decorated with sawnwork, and a wraparound porch that has undergone alterations. Common to many houses of the period in Wise, a stone retaining wall topped by a delicate cast-iron fence and a cast-iron gate and gateposts define the front yard. The house (c. 1890) at 103 E. Main is two stories with a twin gabled front, each topped by a metal finial. White-painted lintels and quoins sharply contrast with the building's red brick walls and a one-story three-bay porch features paired columns on masonry piers.
