Located near the Wise County Courthouse, this hotel offered comfortable accommodations to travelers and provided a convenient meeting place for social events and for the transaction of business in this county seat. Designed by a firm from Bristol and built by local contractor D. J. Phipps, this large two-story brick building dominates its corner site with a monumental pedimented portico facing the street corner. It features paneled pillars, Ionic columns, and an unusual latticed opening in the pediment. Originally, the building had one-story porches on each side of the portico, but the one on the right was enclosed in the mid-twentieth century. In 2007 the Wise County Industrial Development Authority purchased the building, which is being renovated.
