Probably the oldest double house standing in Richmond, this two-and-one-half-story, four-bay brick block has raised side-bay entrances with porticoes. Stylistically, the house is Federal, with Flemish bond brickwork and keystone lintels. It was built as investment property by the heirs of Dr. Richard Adams. The double house would later become a predominant housing form in the city. The storefront on the 25th Street side of the building was an alteration promoted by extensive regrading of 25th Street as well as other streets in Church Hill.
