This substantial three-bay brick Greek Revival house with a low but powerful portico served for years as the state headquarters of the APVA. Originally a parapet at the cornice line made the house even more impressive. On the grounds are a one-story dependency that was used for tobacco processing experiments and a two-story slave dependency.
