This massive Romanesque Revival building with a rock-faced ashlar facade of James River granite provides an appropriate introduction to the neighborhood. As is typical of West Franklin Street patronage, it was designed by one of the premier Richmond architects of the day for a wealthy Richmond tobacco merchant.
