This simple frame house is one of the oldest in Oregon Hill. When constructed it was probably the only building on the block. The house incorporates a deep setback that reflects its thensuburban location. Gabled cottages of this type were the dominant building type of the neighborhood in the antebellum period, and examples can be found interspersed among the later buildings.
