Raised on a high basement, the Grice-Neely House is unusual in that its principal entrance is on the east side of the house, away from North Street. The entrance is sheltered by a Doric portico and reached by a flight of stone stairs. The relatively plain exterior of the main facade is relieved by an elegant cast and wrought iron balcony, with a pattern of stylized lilies, on the first level above the basement.
