The Classical Revival red brick courthouse has prominent Beaux-Arts influences. A range of Ionic columns supporting a deep entablature marches across the raised podium at the head of a monumental stair. The attic story is particularly rich, taller than normal, with large cartouches punctuating the projecting end bays. A number of one-and two-story commercial buildings surround the square, with a ring of modest vernacular residences beyond.
