This one-story, rectangular-plan, gable-fronted, sandstone church has a square tower topped with a wood-shingled pyramidal roof. The stone buttresses were added in the 1880s for additional support. A low sandstone wall surrounds a courtyard and a small cemetery where many of Round Top's earliest citizens are buried. Inside the church is a cedar pipe organ, one of seven built by Traugott Wantke and it is thought to be the first he made in Texas. The church housed the first school in the town from 1866 to 1878. Houston philanthropist Ima Hogg donated funds for the organ refurbishment on its centennial.
