This unaltered, one-part commercial block stands out amidst its modernized neighbors along the tree-lined commercial artery of Falfurrias. It is notable for its elaborate brickwork and articulated parapet, so typical of Leffland's early-twentieth-century designs that were still bridled to the Victorian period. The floor inscription at its entrance, “Hermanos Garcia, construida 1916” (“Garcia Brothers, built 1916”), indicates along the city's main commercial thoroughfare the inclusion of merchants who descended from pioneer Mexican families. Also by Leffland is the heavily altered Falfurrias State Bank of 1910 nearby at E. Rice and N. Las Pitas streets.
