Parts of the West End transitioned to mainstream styles, as revealed by a pair of grand Colonial Revival residences built side by side for a newly wed couple and their in-laws. Both houses were constructed by Tracy with his signature monumental order porticoes curving out from double-tiered galleries. Set on generous, well-landscaped lots, the recently rehabilitated buildings were symbolic of the marriage alliance between two of the most successful Spanish immigrant families in Brownsville: the Fernández at number 405, and the Celaya at number 411.
