A leading Victorian housewright in the village modernized this early foursquare Federal house with hipped roof and monitor by adding bays and an ingeniously designed front porch (fortunately unspoiled by the aluminum residing of the body of the house). The front bay window at one side of the house locks into the projecting polygonal centerpiece of the porch, the shapes echoing one another, binding porch and bay to the house, and repeating the bay windows on the side toward Washington Street.
