Cobblestone construction is unusual for Rhode Island, but this one-story cobblestone house with a hipped roof was designed and built by an emigré from Rome, Joseph Octaviana (1903). It seems to be another example of Mediterranean scorn for the apparent impermanence of a wooden house where stone is possible (see also JO11).
