Built by Natchez contractor William Stietenroth, Natchez’s oldest public school building, primarily Romanesque Revival with some Colonial Revival detailing, is finished in pressed brick, cut limestone trim, and cast-metal ornament. The central bell tower, missing its exuberant upper stage, is echoed in lower corner towers with paneled parapets and cast-metal ornament. Three round arches with molded impost course and archivolts define the entrance loggia. The building now houses the headquarters, museum, and archives of the Historic Natchez Foundation.
