Enrollees of the CCC erected the one-hundred-foot-tall steel tower and stairway on a high point of land for use in detecting forest fires. The vertical members of the structure are braced with horizontal, vertical, and cross members. Nine flights of stairs, each concluding at a landing, rise up through the center of the steel superstructure and lead, eventually, to an enclosed lookout at the top of the tower.
