This white temple, or mandir, adorned with Indian capitals and cornices is topped by a pyramidal shikhara peak above the shrine room, symbolizing the link between heaven and earth. The peak and other decorative touches were crafted by seven workers brought from India. Inside the temple are sixteen imported statues of divinities, principally Mahalaxmi, goddess of prosperity, dressed in colorful clothing and seated in a niche. With increased immigration, the Hindu community in the region has grown, enriching Delaware's architectural diversity.
