A red cross, the Santa Fe Railroad's distinctive logo, and yellow terracotta trim the four parapeted gable ends of this single-story red brick depot. A standard small-town depot design developed around 1909, it has several siblings along the line from Kansas City to Pueblo. Shallow arches top the transomed waiting room windows, and the walls below the sills are slightly battered. Dark red brick and cream terracotta lend a Jacobethan ambiance to what is now a spiffy town hall. The Santa Fe depot (1912–1913) at 212 North Grand Street in Manzanola, the next town east, is a twin, now used as a community center.
