William Hill, the town's first postmaster and a land promoter who laid out Hill's Addition in 1877, brought his bride to a two-story, front-gabled frame house. They subsequently expanded the structure with single-story additions. From 1907 until 1972 it belonged to the Peter Hedlund family before its conversion to the county museum. Although full of antiques, old costumes, and fancy goods, it remains a simple frame house with a screened porch.
