The Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway rolled through Greenville in 1880, the first of five lines to serve the area. Replacing earlier wooden structures, the long, narrow passenger station survives, but adjacent freight facilities have been demolished. A low-pitched hipped roof with deep overhangs shelters the red brick walls over a rock-faced granite base. The building’s chamfered corners are piped with inset small round brick pilasters. A central rotunda, originally marked by a cupola and dome removed in 1950, was a feature not found in other Texas depots.
