This two-story building follows the typological pattern of Jules Leffland's Bay City bank building ( BE2), with entrance through a corner bay topped off by a flared tile hood. Walls of tawny brick are juxtaposed with gray rusticated plaster strips and lintels, extracting the kind of color and textural contrasts Leffland so frequently produced.
At the south end of this block is a complex of buildings constructed by grocer P. C. Franke. At number 131, the two-story red brick P. C. Franke Building (c. 1912) with buff brick detail has a cornerstone identifying Jules Leffland and Son as architects.
