Its spire visible for miles outside of town, this Gothic Revival church is dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa, also known as the Black Virgin, the patron saint of Polish Catholics. It would appear from its construction date that the parishioners of the town wanted to surpass the nearby Church of the Immaculate Conception in Panna Maria ( SF32). If that was their intention, then they succeeded at least in terms of the verticality of its tower, which rises five stages and is topped by a wooden spire. The basilican plan and similar details suggest that both of these churches were built with a shared tradition, although the vaulted ceilings of the Cestohowa church did not receive painted interior decorations.
