This is one of several early-twentieth-century houses on this street and a good representative of the sort of overblown Colonial Revival house that became popular in Texas following the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. The giant order of columns on the main portico and the front porch's single-story columns created a complex and, at the time, expensive facade. Flannery was employed by J. B. Flannery Company, a real estate and loan firm.
