San Antonio architect Marriott produced a dexterous combination of small-town classicism and modernistic style in this corner building for the First National Bank, whose mixed blend of golden brick is played against the chalkier tones of incised limestone trim. The building marks the boundary between downtown Refugio and the courthouse area in the next block south.
