The station symbolizes the position of Harlingen as a regional distribution center and hub to railroad company division offices. The stuccoed two-story office wing with Mission Revival parapets is attached to a one-story, gabled, linear wing with perimeter platforms to handle rail freight. Downtown Harlingen's low vertical scale enables the structure to maintain a notable visual presence.
