Matagorda builder Nolte may have built his two-story, side-gabled I-house. Fronted by a two-story front veranda covered by a shallow-pitched shed roof, the house is a conservative perpetuation of a type typical of Matagorda in its heyday in the 1830s and 1840s. The two-over-two windows and the Victorian lyre-patterned railing on the second floor of the veranda nudge the house into the 1870s and 1880s.
