Bold shaping of mass is the essence of this church. Two giant dormers, serving as light sources for the interior, jut from the long slope of the shed-roofed, shingled box. The smaller, well down on the slope, lights the vestibule; the larger, at the pinnacle, the pulpit area. This building, designed at a time of intense concern for melding the values of both, combines the modernist commitment to large, abstract shape, volume, and luminosity with the ancient country vernacular.
