This farmhouse is a typical two-and-one-half-story, five-bay, central-chimney Federal house inflected toward Greek Revival by a remodeling which accounts for the heavy, corniced door surround and broad corner pilasters. The ell with pier supports and temple pediment on the side elevation was added during the change. The site and surroundings of this well-maintained property are also important. The house occupies a commanding location on a knoll above the road, with a nineteenth-century board-and-batten barn behind, a slatted well house in front, and a combined cattle barn and equipment shed hard by the opposite side of the road, where a field slopes steeply down to woods.
