The general manager of North American Construction Company, later the Aladdin Company, built for himself this ready-cut home called “The Brentwood.” The gabled house is marked by diamond-paned casement windows, a second-story balcony, a hooded entrance, and pergola porte-cochere. Other examples of Aladdin Homes are “The Winthrop” at 1414 5th Street and “The Lamberton” at 2138 5th Street. The former is characterized by its low, one-story gabled form with bracketed eave supports and shingles; the latter, by its steep gabled roof with exposed rafters, stucco walls, hooded front entrance, and pergola side porch.
