This is an exemplary instance of the late Italianate, which is beginning to take on some of the linear “sticklike” qualities one associates with the Eastlake mode of the 1870s. The segmental arches of the porch are here thin lines of wood, the posts are thin sticks, and the balustrades of the porch railing are narrow and delicate. The two-story house is of wood; in plan it is a side-hall type, but it is the front porch wrapping around one side which creates the appealing character of the dwelling.
